Hi Everyone,
So sad our field trip had to be cancelled due to the unpredictable Tasmanian weather. We did however have a great time visiting Donna up at the Uni science lab.
We looked under the microscope at some mould growing on onions. Very interesting.
All the children were inspired by the atmosphere, the help and talk from a real live scientist!
We hope to integrate some of our new knowledge into designing our own experiments.
Watch our mini investigation page and see what the clever children can come up with to work scientifically.
Scientific Thinking
When scientists are exploring new ideas or investigating, they usually begin with an observation or a question. They may see something that makes them wonder or need an answer to a question.
? Once they pose the question they may need to do some background research so they understand what they will be investigating.
Next, they will have an educated guess at what they think will happen.
This is called a hypothesis.
An example of a hypothesis is “The chemical reaction will slow down as temperature is decreased.”
What sort of questions would a scientist ask themselves about these areas?
